Why aesthetic medicine.

My journey into aesthetic medicine stems from a deep love for both the procedural side of medicine and a passion for the arts. I've always been fascinated by the idea of merging these two worlds: using artistic judgement to refine and enhance someone's appearance while staying grounded in clinical evidence.

Teaching anatomy at university level has been an invaluable asset, particularly in facial work. Precision is crucial when injectables sit close to the intricate network of blood vessels around the face, and the teaching changes how you plan a treatment. You cannot un-see structure.

What I love most about this work is seeing patients walk out feeling like a more confident version of themselves. The mission is simple: help you look like you, just more refreshed.

  1. Clarity and integrity.

    If a treatment isn't suitable, Dr Rakib will say so. He may decline to treat where he believes a procedure would do more harm than good.

  2. Evidence-based treatments.

    Techniques and products are selected from current evidence: Dr Rakib trains internationally and brings the latest, safest methods into the clinic.

  3. Empathy.

    Every concern matters. Consultations take the time to understand what you've noticed and what matters to you before any plan is drawn up.

  4. Ongoing support.

    Care doesn't end with the treatment. Patients of the clinic have direct access for any post-treatment concern, and aftercare is reviewed by Dr Rakib himself.

Qualifications & training

Medicine first, aesthetics second.

Dr Rakib trained as a medical doctor at the University of Queensland and added a Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from QUT Brisbane: formal training in the deeper facial structures that injectable medicine works through.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Rakib trains other doctors in advanced injectable anatomy through Derma Medical Academy in Melbourne, and keeps his technique current through annual training with international cosmetic medicine bodies including IMCAS Paris and the Korean College of Cosmetic Surgery.

How he assesses

45 minutes, with the doctor.

Every consultation is performed by Dr Rakib and his clinical team. No rushed intake, no handover to a non-medical injector. This is what those minutes are spent on, in order.

  1. What you've noticed

    Your concern in your own words, and how long it's been there. This is where every plan starts, not with a treatment name.

  2. Your history

    Relevant medical and aesthetic history, medications, and anything that changes what is safe or sensible for you.

  3. The assessment

    Dr Rakib examines the area and the structures beneath it. What he finds decides what gets recommended, single session or staged.

  4. Options, with their limits

    What may help, what each option involves, and what it can't do: expected benefit, risks, downtime and alternatives, including not treating.

  5. Pricing before decisions

    You leave with a written plan and itemised pricing to consider in your own time. Nothing is booked in the room unless you want it to be.

Where he draws the line

What he'll say no to.

Part of a doctor's job is declining. These rules come from Dr Rakib's own practice standards, and they don't bend for demand.

  • A promise to make you look years younger.

    You'll hear what treatment can and can't do, and over what timeframe. Results are described in observable terms, never guarantees.

  • Overfilled lips and obvious work.

    If a request would leave you looking done rather than like yourself, he'll say so, and explain what he'd do instead.

  • A rushed consultation.

    Forty-five minutes is how long a first appointment takes. Decisions made in five minutes tend to be the wrong ones.

  • Products of uncertain origin.

    Product choice follows clinical evidence and Australian regulation, never price.

  • Anything unsafe for your anatomy.

    Where risk outweighs benefit, the answer is no. That includes popular treatments, where they don't suit your features.

  • The same plan for every face.

    A plan is drawn from your anatomy and your history. There is no menu being worked through.

He may also decline to treat altogether where a procedure would do more harm than good. When that happens, you'll be told why, and what the better path is: a different treatment, a referral, or simply waiting.
