What is hip dip treatment?

Hip dip treatment uses a combination of volume enhancement and a biostimulator (typically calcium hydroxylapatite) to fill the trochanteric depression: the natural indentation between hip and outer thigh that many patients dislike. The combination is deliberate. Volume enhancement gives an immediate, visible result on the day, and the biostimulator stimulates your own collagen production over the following months.

It's an alternative to surgical fat transfer (BBL) for patients wanting a smoother silhouette without going to theatre. Clear framing: it doesn't transform the body; it refines a specific contour change.

    Why it happens

    Bony anatomy creates a natural depression between the greater trochanter and the iliac crest. Some patients have a deep, visible indentation; others don't: it's largely structural, not changeable by exercise.

Why exercise rarely fixes hip dips

Hip dips are anatomical: created by the relationship between the iliac crest, trochanter, and the soft tissue between them. Building lateral glute muscle can help in some cases, but most patients find the depression remains visible regardless of training. It's structure, not fat or muscle alone.

You receive an itemised written quote at consultation, before committing to anything. The consultation is $75 for 45 minutes with Dr Rakib Uddin, redeemed against your treatment if you go ahead.

Body volumes are typically larger than facial ones, so pricing reflects product use and is confirmed at consultation. Because a result that holds its shape usually needs several syringes rather than one, this sits at the higher end of what the clinic treats. Treatment fees can be paid by card, bank transfer, Afterpay or Zip, on those providers' own approval and terms; where the volume required is substantial, Dr Rakib will often propose staging the treatment across two sessions on clinical grounds, which also spreads the cost.

Can I pay for this treatment in instalments?

Yes. Afterpay and Zip are both accepted for treatment fees, alongside card and bank transfer. Approval, credit limits and repayment terms are set by Afterpay and Zip when you apply, not by the clinic. A payment plan changes when you pay; it does not change what is recommended, and the plan is decided clinically before cost is discussed. Will it look like a BBL?

No, and it's not designed to. BBL adds significant volume and can transform the silhouette. Hip dip filler refines a specific contour and produces a more subtle smoothing. Different goals.

How long until I see the final result?

Immediate visible fill, refined as swelling settles over 1–2 weeks, and biostimulation matures the result over months. Real review of the final result is at month 3.

Is it really not reversible?

Calcium hydroxylapatite is not dissolvable like hyaluronic acid. This is why doctor-level placement matters, and why we recommend patients new to injectables start elsewhere. For confident patients, the durability is a benefit.

How much volume do you need?

Varies markedly: some patients need a few syringes per side, others substantially more. Photographs and physical assessment at consultation produce the plan and the quote.

Will exercise affect the result?

Strong lateral glute training can complement the result; it doesn't undo it. Patients can resume normal training after the first week.
