What is lip volume enhancement?

Lip enhancement uses a hyaluronic-acid gel, a substance the body produces naturally, placed precisely within the lip structure to restore volume, define the border or rebalance asymmetry. Hyaluronic acid binds water, so treated lips also gain lasting hydration.

The treatment is fully reversible: an enzyme can dissolve the product if ever required. Product choice, depth of placement and injection technique are matched to the result you want, from barely-detectable hydration through to structured definition.

  • Very thin lips are built gradually over more than one session, not in a single large treatment

How do I make sure my lips won't look overdone?

Three protections: a doctor who will say no to volumes your anatomy can't hold, conservative staged treatment rather than one large session, and placement matched to your natural lip architecture. The over-filled look is a choice: one we don't make.

Does lip volume enhancement always migrate eventually?

No. Migration is strongly associated with technique: excessive volume, repeated treatment without assessment, and placement in the wrong plane. Conservative dosing in the correct anatomical plane, with clear-eyed reassessment before each top-up, keeps product where it was placed.

How painful is the treatment?

Lips are sensitive, so we take numbing seriously: topical anaesthetic before treatment, and the filler itself contains local anaesthetic. Most patients describe pressure and brief stings rather than significant pain, and the appointment is over quickly.

What if I've had filler elsewhere and don't like it?

Assessment first. Depending on what's there, the options are balancing with small corrective volumes, or dissolving and starting cleanly. Dissolving sounds drastic but is straightforward, and it's often the fastest route to the result you originally wanted.

How natural will my lips feel?

Once integrated, about two to four weeks, quality hyaluronic-acid filler placed at correct depth feels like lip tissue, to you and anyone else. Persistent firmness beyond that window is worth reviewing, which is part of our standard follow-up.

Why do you assess my whole face for a lip treatment?

Because lips read in proportion to the chin, nose and mid-face. The same lip volume looks balanced on one face and conspicuous on another. Five minutes of proportion assessment is the difference between lips that suit you and lips that look added on.
